TKMS students learn real meaning of Memorial Day

Three area cemeteries are adorned with American flags at the graves of Veterans thanks to the efforts of Thornapple Kellogg Middle School eighth graders. It's an annual event led by Rojean Sprague to take the students out into the community and mark the graves at Mt. Hope, Rutland and Irving cemeteries for Memorial Day.

Keep Duley family in thoughts and prayers

The TK family and community rallied around the Duley family Wednesday night at a candlelight vigil with many wearing Detroit Tigers shirts and hats and releasing blue and white balloons. Caleb Duley, 5, was killed in a tragic car accident May 16. He was a preschool student at TK. His 3-month-old brother Gabriel, and his mother and father were also injured. Preschool secretary Kim Dannenburg is collecting donations for the family including gift cards and money. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.

Seniors Look Forward to OM World Finals and Graduation All in Same Week

Competing at the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals will be the exclamation point to the end of the senior year for three Thornapple Kellogg High School students. "I would skip graduation if I had to, to go to worlds. It's that important to me," said Amy Cutlip who has participated on OM teams for 11 years and is going to the world finals for her third time.
