Grant Puts Graphing Calculators in Hands of Students

Liz Ritsema submitted the grant application and received a $1,083 grant to help purchase 10 new calculators for students.

“These calculators provide students with a better visual understanding of algebraic formulas and equations. The goal is to provide students with these devices so they will be able to have a better grasp of math concepts and want to continue into higher level courses,” wrote Ritsema in the grant application.

The resources will be used by students in the algebra and algebra II classes. They can be used to analyze characteristics of functions, compare and contrast functions and create coherent representations of mathematical models for real world solutions.

Ritsema said the math department is grateful for the continued support by TAEF for TKHS students.
