Two Honored with Distinguished Alumni Awards

Larry Seger, Class of 1963, received the honor for his work as a varsity tennis coach for 52 years at TKHS and was recently inducted into the Michigan High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

“After attending Central Michigan University, he returned to Middleville for a long and successful career in the classroom and on the tennis court,” read the announcer.

Seger coached the men’s varsity tennis team from 1969-2008 for a total of 40 seasons earning eight conference titles, two regional titles, and had two All-State singles players. He also coached the women’s varsity tennis team from 1974-2020 for a total of 46 seasons earning 14 conference titles, three regional titles and had four All-State singles players.

His combined dual season record is 741-345 – third best of all time. Seger also has 52 tournament wins and 10 undefeated teams (dual seasons) to his credit. At the State Tournament his teams had 13 top 15 finishes, seven top 10 finishes and three top five finishes.

Seger has received many honors during his career. He was named the Regional Coach of the Year multiple times for men’s and women’s tennis and was the Class B Girls Tennis Coach of the Year in 1986. He has also been inducted into the Michigan High School Tennis Coaches Association Hall of Fame (1994) and the Thornapple Kellogg Hall of Fame (2016).

Dr. Christopher Noah, Class of 1983, was also honored for his dedication and commitment in the community and to the schools.

“Dr. Noah has worn many hats during his time in Middleville. But most of you know him as a family physician who has cared for patients in this area for over 28 years. He’s served thousands of people in our community from newborn to one patient who was 113 years old,” said the announcer. “He has participated in medical missions, served as chief of staff at Pennock Hospital, mentored MSU medical students, served as Rotary Club President and so much more.”

Dr. Noah also organized sports physicals for TK athletes for nearly 20 years.

“Dr. Noah is especially proud of the fact that one of his direct family members has either attended or taught at Thornapple Kellogg School District in every decade for the past 100 years.”

The TK Alumni Association also sent a special birthday wish to Conrad “Connie” Beeler, Class of 1942, who will celebrate his 100th birthday in October. The Alumni Association shared a book for people to sign to wish him a happy birthday.  Beeler was honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award at the Alumni spring banquet last May.
