TKMS Students Gain Perspectives on Military Service
As Thornapple Kellogg eight graders filed down for a special Veterans Day program, they looked at the footprints along the hallway walls and some pointed out names of family members printed on paper bricks in a display case.
The footprints, each costing $1, bore the names of friends, cousins, aunts and uncles who have served or are serving in the armed forces. In a display case, several paper bricks were displayed to build a wall - each brick had the name of an immediate family member printed on them. They formed the "Building Blocks of Liberty."
