Grant Helps Provide Supplies for Senior Citizen Project

The center is located in Thornapple Kellogg High School by entering from the parking lot of Bender Road. Use the entry door nearest Bender Road.

The senior enrichment programs received a grant from the Barry Community Foundation to help with the cost of materials for the blankets. The blankets are part of the new senior center's first community service projects visitors asked about doing when the center opened earlier this year.

There is no sewing required for these blankets. The blankets will be tied.

Any senior citizens from the area are welcome to attend and assist in making the blankets.

This is the first of what is hoped to be many community service projects undertaken the senior center.

Also on that date, Lisa Thatcher from MSU Extension will offer information about how to eat healthy and stay active. Her presentation will be from 11 a.m. to noon.

The senior center is open every other Thursday. After Dec. 21, the next open dates will be Jan. 11 and 25 and then Feb. 8 and 22.

For more information about the senior center, activities and programs, visit the community enrichment brochure at www.tkschools.org under the Community tab, call 269-795-5578 or email [email protected].
