Page Career Fair Introduces Variety of Career Options

Page students got some first-hand information about a variety of careers at the annual career fair.

“We hope this gives our students some ideas of the variety of careers available to them,” said school counselor Jill Funk-Dieterle. “Our presenters talk about what they like about their career, why they chose it and what kind of education they needed. They didn’t all have to go to a traditional college.”

The two-day fair allowed fifth-grade students to choose three of the eight presentations offered that day. Funk-Dieterle said it was important to have a mix of career options for students.

“We want them to have some exposure to what’s available and what education is required,” she said. “We’re not expecting students to figure out their career path, but we want them to know they have lots of options and hopefully they can find something that aligns with their strengths and interests.”

Each of the presenters talked about how they got into their careers and the education or training they needed.
