About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Commended students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2027 competition by taking the 2025 preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
The letter to Sager-Wissner states, “Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential or academic success. These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.”
Sager-Wissner said he was “a bit surprised” to receive this recognition. He is currently working on his associates degree through a KISD partner program called Launch U. By the time he graduates high school, he expects to have his associates degree already completed.
“After that I’ll probably go on to a four-year college, maybe MSU, and possibly study toward a law degree,” he said.
Sager-Wissner is the son of Kimberly Sager and Aaron Wissner.
