 Lawrence Tech Summer Camps

Interested in technology, design or science?  Lawrence Technological Universtiy offers a variety of camps that will introduce you to the latest innovations in modern labs and studios using state-of-the-art equipment.  Click here for a listing of camps for current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors.

 

 Computer Science Summer Camp

Students who will be in 11th and 12th grade next fall have an opportunity to attend the University of Michigan College of Engineering's Computer Science Summer Camp.   A camp will be held in Grand Rapids.  Cost of the camp is $50.  Space in the camps is limited.  Click here for additional information.

 

 Try a Summer Class and Earn College Credit

GRCC is offering four summer courses for juniors and seniors.  The classes offered are Survey of American Government, Principles of Macroeconomics, English Composition and Interpersonal Communication.  The cost estimate per class is $286.50.  Classes will be held June 20-August 8 from 9am-12 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays .  Each class will earn 3 college credits.  See a counselor to complete the Early College Application.  Applications must be submitted by Wednesday, June 6.

 

 Pennock Summer Volunteer Program

Pennock Health is now accepting applications for their annual summer junior volunteer program. Do you have at least four hours a week to volunteer and you enjoy helping others? Are you possibly interested in a healthcare career? Applicants must be at least 15 years of age and have one recommendation from a teacher. Apps are available in Student Services and application deadline is no later than June 1, 2012.   

 

 FSU Summer Academic Camps

Ferris State University is hosting summer Academic Camps that offer students an opportunity to participate in hands-on experiences and encourage students to think actively about future career choices.  A wide variety of academic interests are represented from Biotechnology to Television and Digital Media Production.  Camps held on the Big Rapids campus are residential and include housing and dining.  Camps held in Grand Rapids are day camps and do not provide housing and dining.  Additional information and electronic registration are available online at www.ferris.edu/summercamps.

 

 Teen Entrepreneur Summer Academy

Grand Valley State University will host the Teen Entrepreneur Summer Academy in Grand Rapids in June.   The Teen Entrepreneur Summer Academy (TESA) is a hands-on, interactive camp for West Michigan high school students to learn how to launch a business.  Click here for additional information.

The Barry County Entrepreneurial Pillar is offering $25 scholarships for students registered to attend the Academy.  The scholarship will cover the cost of the program.  Contact the Barry County Michigan State University Extension Office at 269-945-1388 for additional information, to apply for the scholarship or to get more information about the Barry County Entrepreneurial Pillar.

 

 Summer Academy at Calvin

Calvin College is proud to offer an excellent summer opportunity to students.  US and international high school students can get a jumpstart on their college experience by participating in the Summer Academy at Calvin.  During this college immersion experience, students enroll in a Calvin course, earn college credit, live in the residence halls, participate in service-learning and attend college readiness programs.  Students who successfully complete the Summer Academy will receive a grant toward their Calvin tuition if they enroll as a full-time student.

 Summer Youth Programs at Michigan Tech

Build and launch rockets.  Go on a wilderness adventure.  Discover Englneering.  Explore Forensics and CSI.

Michigan Tech's Youth Programs are weeklong summer camps and career and adventure explorations filled with team projects, hands-on activities, field trips, and more.  There are over 70 programs for middle and high school students.

Scholarship programs are available for academically talented high school students.

 TK Student Aid Fund

The TK Student Aid Fund is designed to provide TK seniors and graduates with loans for the purpose of funding post high school education. 
Many families have found the Student Aid Fund to be an excellent way to make it possible for a deserving young person, who may not have otherwise afforded it, to attain advanced training.


 Selective Service Information

All men must register with Selective Service when turning 18.  It only takes a minute, and it keeps you eligible for many important opportunities like student loans, government jobs, and a driver's license in most states.  Register with Selective Service at www.sss.gov.
