 Grand Rapids Area College Night

Aquinas College invites you to the Grand Rapids Area College Night sponsored by Fifth Third Bank on Wednesday, October 24 from 6:30-8:00 pm.  More than 70 colleges, universities and military personnel will be available to answer questions.  A list of participating schools and directions can be found at http://www.aquinas.edu/undergraduate/college_night_aq.html

Fifth Third Bank will be presenting $500 scholarships to two lucky attendees that evening.  To be eligible to receive one of the scholarships, you must completely fill out a ballot by visiting at least three tables throughout the evening.  The drawing for the scholarships will take place shortly before the end of the college fair at 8 pm.  Must be present to win.

 

 KCTC Open House

Kent Career Tech Center invites you to an Open House on Thursday, October 25 from 6-8 pm.

Gather information on career pathways in: arts & communication, business management, marketing & technology, natural resources & agriscience, engineering/manufacturing & industrial technology, health sciences and human services.

 Visual & Performing Arts Expo

On October 24 from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm, over 40 colleges will be at the Lansing Center to talk with students about furthering education and professional development in the fine and performing arts.  Admission is free.  Click here for a flyer full of information about this event.

 

 2012 Academy Night

On Monday, November 19, US Representatives Amash and Huizenga will be hosting their Academy Night at the Gerald R. Ford Museum.  It will be held from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm. 

Representatives from the five United States Service Academies will be available at information tables to meet individually with students.  The formal presentation portion of the evening will begin around 7:30 pm.  Staff members from the offices of US Senators Stabenow and Levin have been invited.  Several current cadets and midshipmen may be available to meet with students.

Students from all grade levels who have an interest in an Academy education are encouraged to attend.

 National Foundation For Advancement In The Arts

The 2013 application cycle is open for the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts.  YoungArts is the sole national organization dedicated to encouraging and recognizing artistic excellence in the visual, literary and performing arts (including cinematic arts, dance, jazz, music, photography, theater, visual arts, voice and writing).  YoungArts understands the importance of providing assistance to young artists, and therefore has expanded the eligibility requirements to include 15-18 year olds OR students in high school grades 10-12.  Visit www.youngarts.org/apply for details on the application requirements for each discipline and the application process.  The deadline for the application cycle is October 19.
