 First Things First Club

Club FTF is a program designed to support, celebrate, and encourage students who are, as Stephen Covey would say, doing “First Things First” in our school.  Membership is reserved for students who are doing their work and turning it in on time, attending classes on a regular basis, and treating others with respect at all times.  This is a nice way for us to say, "Thank you for your efforts."

We did things last year like bussing our group after school to Jester’s Court, bowling at the Middle Villa and the Kentwood Fun Spot for roller skating.  We are excited to spend time outside of the day with our kids and look forward to offering opportunity for our kids who take care of First Things First.

This is a fun opportunity for our kids.

 FYI ---

Parents,  for your information......

Math Enrichment:
We are starting Math Enrichment this school year at Page Elementary.  Very excited to off this newer concept and idea to support more learning in Math.  This will begin sometime around the first week in November.  This new program we are trying involves all of our students getting a bit more math instruction focused on areas of need in regards to more academic support and extensions.  Our students will be getting about 30 minutes of Math Enrichment time between our four grade level teachers in our hallway teams (Ex.- Potter, Meredith, Keizer, and Huggins - is a hallway team).  We will be using data from our Discovery Education assessments along with classroom common assessments to determine where and what groups our students from our four classrooms will work in.  The schedule will be flexible between the four hallway team of teachers, but will likely look like about 30 minutes of "enrichment" times about 3 times a week.  The schedule will allow us to move these groups possibly in 4 to 6 week time periods, but it will be flexible in regards to movement with some students to meet their needs as supported by data.

Report Cards:
This school year our district has moved to semesters.  This means that we will no longer be having trimester report cards.  We will be giving out report cards at semester which would be at the end of January.  This school year we are also not having Honor Roll as well as we are transitioning to standard based report cards.  We are still doing Character assemblies (6 total) to recognize our students as well as an increased number of First Things First Events to recognize our students for their hard work and efforts at Page Elementary.  Student grades and academics are available on PowerSchool to view and use at any time.

 IMPORTANT Information from Transportation

Beginning with the 2013/2014 school year,
TK is implementing a significant change in bussing.

We will have a "One Drop Location" policy.
This means parents/guardians will need to identify a single location where your child is dropped off every school day. This one location will remain for the entire school year.

This policy is for all students, all grade levels.

Please contact the Transportation Department with any questions or for
more information - 269-795-5540.

 Safety Message....

A safety message from State Superintendent Mike Flanagan regarding the Michigan Child Protection Registry...

Are your children safe while online?
Michigan families, especially minors, are becoming inundated with advertisements from alcohol, tobacco, pornography and gambling marketers through different internet and cell phone inboxes. Thankfully, the State of Michigan offers a free program to stop adult advertisements from reaching e-mails, mobile phones (text messaging ads) and instant messenger IDs.

The Michigan Child Protection Registry is a free do-not-contact service for Michigan’s families and schools and can be located at

As a strong supporter of this registry, I would like to encourage you to sign your entire family up for the registry, inform your friends and colleagues about how they can protect children and families from unwanted adult advertising.
