TK Community Education Leisure and Enrichment Classes Spring 2013

Pre-registration is required for classes unless noted.  Classes are offered on a first come-first serve basis.  Payment is due one week prior to first class except where noted otherwise.  Classes are self-supporting; therefore no refunds can be made after the first night of class.  You will be notified, and a full refund will be given if class is cancelled or filled.  Make checks payable to TK Schools and mail to TK Community Ed, 10375 Green Lake Rd, Middleville, MI  49333.  Please call 795-3397 to register or stop at the Community Ed office.  Payment is due with registration before start of class. NOTE: If school is cancelled due to inclement weather, evening classes are also cancelled.  Every attempt will be made to make up cancelled classes. Cancellation notice will be communicated through TV channels 3,8,13 and 41, radio stations WOOD and WBCH, and the district web site www.tkschools.org    Child care is not available during class.


Adults

Intermediate/Advanced Watercolor-Acrylic Class
This class follows a step-by-step approach to finished watercolor painting.  Students will complete a painting every class.  Prior watercolor class experience is a pre-requisite for this class.  Instruction on working with acrylics will also be covered in this class.  Creating a painting in acrylics is as versatile as painting with oils.  Students will learn/review color theory, division of space, composition and painting techniques.  Prior experience with acrylics is preferred.  Painting surface will be provided for the first class as well as supply lists.   Class is limited to 10.

  Photoshop Elements Class New

This course will cover use of Photoshop Elements.  Participants interested in this class must bring their own laptop with the Photoshop Elements (PE) software installed.  Topics to be covered include photo restoration, color correction, element removal, merging images, creating humorous photos.  This class is for basic to medium range skills.

Aqua Aerobics
This fun, low impact, high intensity workout for adults is geared to tone, strengthen and increase flexibility.  This is an excellent workout for men and women.  Certified instructor Tammy Sirk will tailor the workout to meet your needs.

ZUMBA-“Exercise in Disguise”
ZUMBA is a Latin-inspired, dance-fitness class that incorporates Latin and International music and dance movements, which create a dynamic, exciting, and effective fitness system!  This class format combines fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body in an aerobic/fitness fashion to achieve a unique blended balance of cardio and muscle-toning benefits.  No dance background required-just a willingness to have fun.  This is an adult leisure class-please do not bring children to class as childcare is not provided.  Registration and payment are due by January 9.

ZUMBA GOLD
ZUMBA Gold is designed to take the exciting Latin and International dance rhythms created in the original ZUMBA program and bring them to the active, older adult, the beginner participant, and other special populations that may need modifications for success.  Please bring a water bottle to class. Registration and payment are due by January 9.  Please call 795-5578.

                Hall Walking
The halls of TK High School are open for walking Monday through Thursday, 6:00-8:30 pm through Thursday, March 28th.  Come in from the cold and walk for your health.  Walkers should enter the athletic lobby on the south side of the high school off of Bender Road.  Halls are not open for walking if school is closed due to holidays, in-service days or if school is closed due to inclement weather.  No need to pre-register. 

Senior Citizens Corner

Spring has sprung!  We send thanks to Mother Nature for a beautiful Michigan winter but it’s time look ahead to the warmth of springtime..  Call Shar at the Community Education office, 795-5578 to register or for more information..

 

Thursday,March 8-TKHS Musical Dress Rehearsal-Footloose-Senior Citizens living within the TK school district are invited to attend the dress rehearsal performance of the high school musical “Footloose” on Thursday, March 7th at the TK High School Auditorium.  Refreshments will be served before the dress rehearsal performance  beginning at 6:15 pm in the high school cafeteria.  While there is no cost for this enjoyable evening of theatre, those wishing to attend the pre-show reception and performance will need to reserve a spot by calling Shar at 795-5578 no later than 7 Tuesday, March 5.  Performance begins at 7:00 pm.  Please park in the west parking lot (by the stadium entrance) and use the main entrance.
